Based in Basiglio (Milan), the Mediolanum Corporate University is the educational institution of Banca Mediolanum. Focus of the project was the replacement of the old fluorescent lamps with new LED luminaires, positioned in the building’s circulation areas and classrooms. The main goal was to achieve a high level of visual comfort.

The project

The avoidance of masonry work and the preservation of the existing built-in profiles were the key requirements of the project. Product development required the utmost attention to detail, as well as numerous mock-ups and field tests to define the aesthetic, technical and installation aspects of the product. In order to verify that the product met the customer’s requirements, a pilot project was carried out on a single hallway of the building. This allowed for the fine-tuning of the installation and for the integration of the new luminaires into the existing management system.

The product

The lighting performance of Drywall optics made it possible to replace the old fluorescent lamps with the new LED technology, all while maintaining the existing electrical lines, with no additional connecting cables. No structural alterations of any kind were required, as the existing architectural constraints were respected.
An engineering “simplification” operation was carried out to minimise the number of components: a Drywall optics, a 3D printed plastic support and some simple magnets are the pieces that make up the product.
